Alyssa Carson is World's Youngest Astronaut in training

18-years-old Alyssa Carson is the youngest astronaut-in-training and is preparing to be the first human on Mars. At 15, she became the youngest person to enrol in Advanced PoSSUM Space Academy. She is currently studying Astrobiology at Florida Tech. Carson is accredited in applied astronautics which means she can do a sub-orbital study flight and cosmos travel. She is also the designer of Horizon One luggage line: the world's first bag for space travel. The space bag is set to release by 2030, the exact timeline for NASA's expected human mission to Mars.

The space travel bag will be one of the kind which will be designed to meet astronauts’ needs and spaceship requirements. It will consist of ground-breaking materials and technology such as a graphene-enhanced carbon-fiber structure, electromagnetic base, biometric security, smart screens and bacteriostatic technology. This space luggage concept is projected to cost approximately $50,000 USD.

Carson has collaborated with Horizn Studios to launch her first product under Horizon One Luggage Line: Cabin luggage for personal travel. It is called HORIZN STUDIOS’ LIMITED-EDITION NASA CABIN LUGGAGE. The bag has an in built smart battery charger, 360-degree spinner wheels and an aerospace-grade polycarbonate hard case. An additional benefit for consumers buying the product is one year’s free access to Horizn GO, the world’s first personal travel assistant which helps organize travellers itineraries before their journey.

In an interview to The Network, Carson said, "I believe by breaking age barriers; I helped PoSSUM recognise that younger children could offer just as much to their research”. She also highlighted the dearth of women representation in STEM.

She said, "It takes tens of thousands of people to send one person to space. But there’s still a lack of female representation across all these jobs, not just astronauts, but scientists, engineers."
