Adrian Zenz, a german researcher recently published his findings based on primary and secondary data analysis. His work throws light on the dismal condition of women from Uyghur minority and other muslim minority communities in China. The report has raised alarms among International human rights activists who are demanding an immediate mediation by organisations such as United Nations.
Denial of Reproductive right's to the Women of Uyghar Community
The report shows a targeted mass sterilisation of women from Uyghar minority community located primarily in southern Xinjiang since December 2019. This is an ongoing, heavily funded project where women with more than two children are forcefully fitted with intrauterine contraceptives.
This is a clear violation of women's reproductive rights.
Demographic Campaign of Genocide
According to Zenz's report, there's an 84 percent decline in the growth rates of Xinjiang’s natural population in the two largest Uighur prefectures between 2015 and 2018. He terms this as “the demographic campaign of genocide".
China's Response
Zhao Lijian, Foreign Ministry spokesperson blamed media for "cooking up false information on Xinjiang-related issues". He further stated "the region is in peace and harmony".
