On Sunday, Hong Kong police used pepper spray on pro-democracy protestors in the city's shopping centres. Masked activists attacked restaurants run by Maxim's as its owner's daughter oppose, condemn the pro-democracy movement.
For the last six months, Honk Kong has seen and continue to witness violent clashes between the hardcore protestors and police, along with constant transport diruption.
In the local council election held last month, pro-democracy parties won with a landslide victory. Eight hundred thousand plus people marched peacefully through the streets last Sunday. In spite of the success and peaceful protest, there was no sign of concession from Beijing or Hong Kong's chief executive, Carrie Lam.
The protests started against the plan to allow extraditions to the mainland, which however remain scrapped. The economy took a toll due to these protests and ongoing trade war.
