Katy Perry - A musical Hurricane

A woman has always been a mystery who couldn't be resolved by anyone. She does what she thinks is right for her and her loved ones. She reveals her plans only if she wants. Music industry too has women who are mysterious and who have transformed their whole lives. These are women who followed their passion even after facing troubling times. The melodious beauty, Katy Perry, is among them.

Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, 35, professionally known as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter and television judge. Born in Santa Barbara, California, to pastors Mary Perry and Maurice Keith Hudson, Katy has always had a great taste in music. She sang gospel music at her parent's church from the age 9 to 17. Her family struggled financially, sometimes using food stamps and other times eating from the food bank intended to feed the congregation at her parent's church.

Perry primarily listened to gospel music only because secular music was dismayed and discouraged in the family. Though she was born in a Christian family, Perry wasn't exactly identified as a religious person. On being questioned, she said that she has prayed and still does, for self-control, humility and confidence. Katy began singing by practising with her sister's cassette tapes, after which her parents permitted her to take vocal lessons just like her elder sister Angela. She discovered popular music through CDs that she sneaked from her friends.

At 13, Perry was presented with a guitar for her birthday and she used to perform publicly after writing songs. She tried to "be a bit like the typical Californian girl" while growing and started rollerskating, skateboarding and surfing as a teenager. She was described as a tomboy, by her brother. Katy completed her General Education Development (GED) at age 15 and left high school to pursue a musical career. She learned to write songs at Nashville. Her debut album "Contemporary Christian"  wasn't much of a success but she continued following her passion dedicatedly and became the third most followed person on twitter. She was the first followed artist to have multiple videos reach one billion views on Vevo.

Throughout her career, Katy has won five American Music Awards, fourteen People's Choice Awards, four Guinness World Records, a Brit Award and a Juno Award. Billboard also named her the 15th most successful dance club artist of all time.

Here's quoting some beautiful lines from her song "What Makes a Woman", which is a reflection of her outstanding personality.

"Is it the way I cut my hair And put no makeup on? I feel most beautiful Doing what the fuck I want Is it that my intuition Is never really off? I need tissues for my issues And Band-Aids for my heart Could spend your whole life, but you couldn't Describe what makes a woman She's always been a perfect mystery Could spend your whole life, but you couldn't Describe what makes a woman And that's what makes a woman to me That's what makes a woman to me Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah Is it the way we keep The whole world turning In a pair of heels? Yeah, that's what makes a woman"
