MacKenzie Scott: The Richest Woman In The World

The 50-year-old Mackenzie Scott became the richest woman in the world on Monday. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index reported Mackenzie Scott's net worth of $67.4 billion. The novelist and philanthropist have outperformed L’Oreal SA heiress Francoise Bettencourt Meyers as she raced to the top. She is now the world’s 12th richest person.

Scott, ex-wife of Jeff Bezos separated in 2019. She received 25 per cent of Amazon’s stock and a 4 per cent share in the company in the divorce settlement. Since then she pledged to commit her wealth for a global cause. She has been giving out lumpsum donations to multiple NGO's and organizations. She was recently in news for donating $1.7 bn to support women and LGBTQ rights.

Last year, Scott had pledged to donate half of her personal wealth to philanthropic causes. She has been actively helping organizations working for climate change and is accredited for starting an anti-bullying organization called Bystander Revolution in 2014.


Meyers, the heiress of the L’Oréal beauty empire, is the second richest woman with a net worth of $66.3 bn followed by Alice Walton, daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton, with $60.4 bn net worth.


Among men, Jeff Bezos is the richest in the world with a personal worth of $200 billion followed by Bill Gates. Last week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk became the third richest man, overtaking Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg.
