Musée d’Orsay in France, Denied Entry To A Woman Over Low-Cut Dress

On September 9 Jeanne took to social media to explain her ordeal at the famous museum, Musée d’Orsay in France. Jeanne explained how she was denied entry to the museum on the grounds of "inappropriate dressing."

The student of French Literature said she was denied entry because of her low cut dress. Two female agents told her "rules are rules." Another official went to the extent of saying her exposed cleavage was "not allowed" and "not acceptable." She could enter the museum only after wearing a jacket. She saw women wearing halter tops inside the museum with the only difference of "them being skinny with small breasts" said Jeanne.

She further added the entire episode reduced her identity to her breasts and sexualised her as a woman. She felt "beaten, compelled and ashamed."

When the news went viral, the French museum officials came out and apologised to Jeanne. They said, “We deeply regret it and apologise to the person involved, with whom we are getting in touch.” Jeanne confirmed to the BBC that she was approached by the museum officials and she was satisfied with their apology.
