My Tears Have Dried Up

All my tears have dried up , I don’t feel anything . It just gets gorier every single time, its been seven years to Nirbahaya and as a country we all came together, held vigils, protests and a law was passed but to what avail? Every single day some innocent faceless girl just gets raped because we allow it. Why has there been such a moral degradation of our fibre that we have completely lost it and have become worse than monsters.

When I was growing up, we thought monsters hid under the bed, or in the darkness but now they roam all around, free, because we don’t check them. They do all this in gay abandon because they know that there is no punishment, they will go scot free and more so the raped will be the one questioned because she had asked for it.
It is a dark reminder of how unsafe our society is now. Monsters lurk shamelessly without any check, a veterinary doctor today was raped, burnt, charred to death, with unimaginable horrors done to her and what does the home minister say in return.
‘We’re saddened by the incident, crime happens but police is alert and controlling it. Unfortunate that despite being educated she called her sister and not 100, had she called 100 she could’ve been saved. Is this the time, or is this the sensitivity to handle such a gruesome act? Why are we as a nation collectively loosing it on all fronts? All over the world we have been admired for having the best civilisation and being home to a country where we had Mahabharata and defended a lady’s honor, marched to Lanka, but now all we do is hold a candle light march.

This is what we have become, a spineless country. Why make the tall claims that change is happening, we are a nation on the path of development and on the way to progress, a country that is on the brink of achieving success on all fields but fail on safeguarding its citizens just because she is fair play to a man’s everlasting desire and wants to satiate his sexual physical desire.
Why ? Why no death penalty? Why don’t we have the swiftest action ? Why the delay ?
I am hurt, angered, saddened, dismayed and broken by this news, her words, I’m scared will echo always in our hearts. I am visiting Hyderabad next month and trust me its tarred already in my eyes.
