The release of Narges Mohammadi, a human rights activist, was announced by the Chief Justice of Zanjan Province on Thursday (October 8). Based on the recent law decreasing the prison sentence, Narges Mohammadi's sentence was reduced, and she was released from prison.
I was told by Niaraki the court reduced Mohammadi's case and that her release was based on Islamic terms (Islamic law of kindness!!!!!!). According to Niaraki, Narges Mohammadi was sentenced to 10 years in prison, reduced to eight and a half years by the Law on Reduction of Sentence and the court's consent. Having served eight years and a half-sentence, Narges was released from prison last night.
Bron on April 21, 1972, Narges Mohammadi is an Iranian human rights activist and the vice president of the Defenders of Human Rights Center, which is headed by Nobel Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi. She has a degree in physics. Narges was sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment for conducting a human rights movement that supports abolishing the death penalty. She had a career as a journalist and worked for several reformist newspapers, and her first published book is the reforms, the strategy, and the Tactics. She married to journalist Taghi Rahmani. They have a twin Ali and Kiana. Having spent 14 years in prison, Rahmani moved to France, but Narges stayed in Iran to continue her human rights work.
