Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand, India under the leadership of IPS Preity Priyadarshini has effectively curbed the spread of the Virus in the region. Her empathetic and leadership skills amidst the pandemic is encouraging young girls to take up the services. In an interview to Shethepeople, Preity recalls how she never intended to become a Police officer, instead she just wanted to be of service to people. This later motivated her to take the exams, and live the dream of serving the society.
On the current pandemic, and the proactive response of the department, Preity said, "There’s panic, it’s worrisome to see cases surging everywhere. Having said that, we were amongst one of the last districts to be seeing positive cases because the accessibility of our district is so far away. We held up, it gave us a lot of time to prepare our SOP for the imbalance. Rest, most of the people are following instructions here so we don’t have to coerce the public that much. As for defaulters, we are taking the required actions.”
Pithoragarh is amongst the least affected districts in India, and it continues to keep its people safe with the tireless, self-less continuous work by the frontline warriors. To which, Preity and her team is a part of.
