Many men and boys nowadays think that the motto of Feminism to "make people respect women" which is somehow a disrespect for men. They believe that in order to get justice for women, we (women) forget to respect and admire men.
Why do we ask people to respect women?
The Gender Social Norms Index released by the United Nations Development Programme reveals that despite decades of progress closing the equality gap between men and women, nearly 90% of both the genders hold some sort of bias against women. This bias speaks of the invisible barriers women face. According to the index, about half of the world's men and women feel that men make better political leaders. Over 40% feels that men have more right to a job when jobs are scarce. 28% of the people think that a man beating his wife is justifiable. Adding to this is the startling pay parity between the genders. The survey was conducted around 70 prominent nation covering at least 80% of the world's population.
On every aspect of life, in every field, women are belittled even after years of feminism and gender equality. Girls and women have suffered a lot from centuries and they still do. There are almost negligible cases of domestic violence, sexual harassment and cyberbullying that involves a male accuse. Yes, rapes do ruin lives of both men and women and it's a tornado in the calm lives of people. I'd never justify it. Some men suffer fake rape allegations too and it's a shame on the girl's part that she uses such a sensitive issue for her selfish reasons. A sincere request to those girls, please stop making a joke out of a heinous crime. Millions of lives get ruined because of the deadly four-letter word RAPE. Let me also add as a precautionary reminder: just like, not every boy is a playboy; not every girl is a gold digger. Please remember this. A simple question to the society, why playboys look cool and girls who have sex before marriage are called sluts? Before asking feminists to demand men's respect too, please answer this question of mine directed to all boys out there, did your mom ever ask you to shut the top buttons of your shirt because you look like "You are asking for it"? Tell me did they ever say this? Well, our moms do. Because she knows that if something happens to her daughter, the society will say that the girl looked inviting.
There are places where people yell at their mothers as much as they want and they're ashamed of letting their mothers meet their so-called cool buddies. Why? Just because your mother isn't properly educated and modern enough? I mean C'mon guys! I don't think a woman would bear 9 months of pregnancy and labour pain, kill her dreams so you could pursue yours, just to be disrespected by you! Huh, and you ask why we support Women Empowerment and ask people to respect women. Aren't these reasons enough?
We need to stop this injustice against women and encourage them to fight for their rights. I won't say anything about menstruation or periods, because it's not in anybody's control.
So what can you do for women?
*Stop questioning their decisions, dresses and way of living! *Take actions against Rapes, Domestic Violence, Cyber Bullying, FGM, Disrespect and bias towards women. *Make it safe for them to walk at night without fear. * Let your mothers conquer their wishes and chase their dreams. *Don't demotivate or restrict someone if you can't help them. I bet many people out there don't even know what is FGM. It stands for Female Genital Mutilation, the ritual cutting or removal of some or all of the external female genitals. The pain is unimaginable. Our eyes get teary just by thinking about it but there are girls out there who have gone through this. We don't ask respect for men because men were never disrespected. A father is always the head of the family, a son is considered the future and a husband is the key to a happy life. So, to people who think feminists promote partiality, please look around before you speak. Let me remind you that you guys don't know even 1/10th of what women go through every single day. Please respect and love your mother, sister, partner and daughter, it's a humble request to you all from a girl.
