Facebook’s COO, Sheryl Sandberg, suggests you to ask yourself what would you do if you weren't afraid and then, GO, DO IT! Fear keeps us from being creative and successful. Never give in to your fears instead believe in the shrill quirky voice within, asking you to pursue your dream, your ambition.
2. Claire Watts: Listen!
The CEO of retail and media company QVC, Claire Watts has 'open door times' every week wherein any employee who wants to come talk to her or ask her something, can do so. She believes and asserts time and again, " No one should be beneath you and you should always keep your eyes and ears open."
3. Anne Sweeney: Ask questions
Co-chair of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney-ABC Television Group, Anne Sweeney says, “The smartest thing you can ever do is to constantly ask questions.” Asking questions is one of the best way to gain deeper insights. The best detectives and scientists rely heavily on asking questions because they know it will eventually lead to a breakthrough.
4. Kay Cannon: Get help
Kay Cannon, a comedy writer who wrote Pitch Perfect and wrote on the hit TV shows New Girl and 30 Rock, says, “I don’t do it all. Not even close. I work on a show with a kickass writing staff, I have a kickass partner of a husband who is there for me at all times both personally and professionally.” There are people around you who are talented and willing to help, ask them. Help yourself by letting them help you. You don't have to do it alone.
5. Tina Fey: Do your own thing
Tina Fey writes in her memoir Bossypants, “Do your thing and don’t care if they like it.” Focus on being true to who you are, stay confident in your abilities and just keep doing your own thing. The world always has things to say, let them, you do what's best for you, in your interest. Own your uniqueness. Celebrate your uniqueness. Be fiercely you.
6. JK Rowling: Persist, persist, persist
'The easiest way to fail is to give up.' Promise yourself to fail, but never to give up. Persist, persist, persist say's the author of Harry Potter.
