Tulsi Gabbard Rocks Even In Heels

Imagine this.

You are a woman. You are a Presidential candidate campaigning amidst the scrutiny of a 24/7 media. You’re wearing the highest possible heels and a blazer, and are asked to do pushups to prove your competence in a profession dominated and driven by men. What do you do?

Well, most people, irrespective of gender would run for cover or try to talk themselves out. But then, 38 year old Tulsi Gabbard, American politician and Hawaii Army National Guard major serving as the U.S. Representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district is not most people.

In an incident that happened last week, Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard was taking questions from attendees in New Hampshire when a man in the crowd asked the Congresswoman and Iraq War veteran about former Vice President Joe Biden. Joe Biden has been routinely calling out people in his campaign meetings and challenging them to push up contests. The man in the crowd wanted to know if Ms. Gabbard could take on the former Vice President. Her answer was a resounding’ Yes’ and she clarified that she possibly could take most people on in a pushup contest. The questioner took that as a challenge and off the two went. In a video posted on Twitter, the two furiously did their pushups before the questioner collapsed with a mock theatrical gesture and Ms. Gabbard performed a count out for her challenger like a boxing referee. The two then shook hands amidst a lot of banter and laughter from the crowd.

Born in American Samoa, Ms Gabbard is the first Hindu member of Congress and the first Samoan-American voting member too. The announcement of her intention to seek the Democratic nomination in the 2020 US presidential election made her the first female combat veteran to run for president. A firm non interventionist, Ms. Gabbard wants the United States to get out of foreign wars and focus on peace building. Only time will tell, whether she has what it takes to become the first female President of the United states, but irrespective of that, she is one cool cat.
