Africa is known for its inspirational UBUNTU philosophy and culture. To know what UBUNTU is let's tell you a story.
Once upon a time an anthropologist proposed a game to the tribal children of Africa. He placed a basket of sweets near a tree and made the children stand 100 meters away. He then announced, whoever reaches first will get all the sweets in the basket. The moment the anthropologist said, "ready steady go"
Do you know what happened?
Children held each others hands and ran together towards the tree. They divided the sweets equally among themselves, ate and enjoyed it together.
The anthropologist was caught off guard. He asked the kids, "why they did this?"
The children replied...... 'UBUNTU'
UBUNTU in their language means:
"I AM BECAUSE WE ARE"
Which can be understood as, 'how can one be happy when others are sad?'
This beautiful African Philosophy needs to be taught to one and all. Generation today and many more to come must learn the basic essence of life: I am because we are. Let us all lead an UBUNTU life.
Let us all remember: I AM BECAUSE WE ARE.
