Pratham is a non-profit organisation working on education and livelihoods all over India. It focuses on high-quality, low-cost, and replicable interventions to address gaps in education. Established in 1995 to provide education to children in the slums of Mumbai, Pratham has grown both in scope and geographical coverage. Pratham’s programs annually reach 6 million+ children and 25,000+ youth, annually.
With the idea of creating social impact through story-telling, Pratham is organizing a short film competition, WEAVE 2019.
Currently, an estimated 11% of businesses in India are owned by women, amongst the lowest ratios in the world. In the absence of role models within communities as well as in media narratives, young girls seldom grow up with business-owning aspirations.
Films collected through this initiative are intended to serve as inspiration for the next generation of women entrepreneurs and job-creators.
They are looking for exemplary stories of businesses small and big run by women trailblazers.
This could be the story of a woman running her own beauty parlor in a village; a homemaker who runs a Dabba service; an independent cab driver; or a young entrepreneur running her start-up.
